Stress and Back Pain

Of course there is a link between Stress and Back Pain.

But...

A instead of wondering if your

back pain
neck pain
stomach cramps
weakened immune system etc...

are a manifestation of your stress

Treat as if it is.

Reducing stress through Cognitive therapy, better time management, setting relational boundaries, taking a vacation are instrumental in reducing symptoms such as back pain.

A chiropractic adjustment coupled with a psychologist session would be phenomenal.

Simpler times

I still remember the days without the internet.

Most remember them as simpler times but this exchange and delivery of information at high speed and amazing reliability has me believing that the current times and our future is promising.

We are more aware of ourselves than ever before.

A more connected world is way more fun.

I do not think Chiropractic would have survived without the internet.

Allowing people to share their experiences about the positives (and negatives) of a service are crucial for its growth, evolution, expansion.

Switch roles

In companies when two departments do not understand each other, management tries unique techniques.

One of the cool and unorthodox ones is to switch roles.

The engineering department works in sales and vice versa for a day.

The communication and knowledge of both departments is enhanced and the company works better.

In healthcare,

I wonder if the same would help...for one day imagine

Chiropractic professionals donning the medical hat?
Medical doctors working as massage therapists
Nurses as pharmacists

You get the idea...

Patients and the community would definitely benefit.

Look again to the "Why"

Chiropractic has roots in Alberta that go back to 1917 according to Dr. Clark Mills DC, the current president of Alberta College of Chiropractic.

That is a long time for an idea.

Talking about ideas...

We have all heard of Ted talks.

Their motto is "ideas worth spreading"

When they started...

Technology, entertainment and design are the ideas that ted talks started spreading when the company was conceived in 1984.

Now they spread a wide variety of ideas that may hold value to humanity.

One of the Ted talks asserts the importance of why an idea should exist.  The "why" supersedes "how" and "what".

The why behind everything is crucial to uncover and communicate.

So why chiropractic in Alberta and around the globe?

Because humanity deserve access to expert musculoskeletal care - Chiropractic.

On a local note...

This year, Alberta chiropractic has now launched the "adjustment of the game" promotion with the Calgary flames and Edmonton oilers in the NHL.

They have also launched the straighten up Alberta campaign for postural health for albertans, especially children.

The credibility of chiropractic is on the rise in Alberta because it has simplified the "why".  Maybe it's time we all gave our "why" a second look.

The to do list

Symptoms of an incongruent to do list...

When our outlined desired actions (our "to dos") are not aligned with what we authentically desire, there are symptoms that manifest:

Procrastination
Anxiety
Frustration
Even anger (at ourselves and others)
Etc...

To formulate a list that you know you will follow through with, try this simple exercise.

With each "to do" action, write down a trigger word that links to your personal goals or wants.

It will motivate and inspire.

Laser or flashlight

We all want to be lasers

Focused. Sharp. Piercing.

Their counterpart are flashlights.

Flashlights have beams that are not tightly bound.
They are travelling in multiple directions.

Your actions and thoughts are also Lasers or Flashlights.

Lasers are cultivated by books.

Arising out of long discussions.

In mastermind sessions.
Seminars.
Interactions with thought leaders.
Coaching.

An investment in time. Persistence.

Flashlights are borne out of a view of the surface.
A desire to only travel the short distance.

The ability to recognize an area of life that requires us to be lasers can reduce stress and improve time management.

Chiropractors need to be laser-like in delivering an adjustment.  Getting distracted with lower priorities reduces their effectiveness.  Go back to why you started practice in the first place.

Elevator pitch

Buildings have escalators and elevators

Escalators are always available. You do not have to wait in line, just step on at your convenience and they help you move from floor to floor.

Problem with an escalator is that they cannot move you more than 1 or 2 floors.

The elevator

You have to press the button and wait for it to arrive.

It is a confined small space and not as efficient for one or two storeys of movement.

It even has shitty music.

It is however the only reasonable way to travel 3+ storeys.

Certain times when you are in pain...

You need an escalator. Perhaps a spray of our bio freeze or if you want even a (dare I say it) painkiller.

Then there are times when you have to travel longer for health.

That's when we press the button for the elevator of chiropractic.

Slow.
We have to wait.

But it's a reasonable way to get there.
